Today I am going to show you the number 1 reason why most people fail to use AI effectively.
We are surrounded by Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, and their capabilities seems almost magic... when someone else is using them.
But often when it's our turn to tap into this powerful technology we get way too basic answers, sometimes they are so dumb it's annoying.
What can we do about this?
Ask things the right way
Imagine entering a room where there is a meeting going on. As soon as you get in, people start asking you questions about what they are discussing. You would be caught off guard and probably your answers will not be great.
This is what's happening to chatGPT most of times.
To get good answers we need to give it the context before asking the questions. This is called prompting.
Prompting can make a huge difference in the quality of the answers, since the AI
Will understand what we really need
Will use the right information to help us
Will know how much detail we want in the answer
What is a good prompt?
Give background info before asking questions
Be clear about what you want
Include important details about your situation
Ask for step-by-step plans and ways to measure success (if applicable)
Request examples when you need them
Try different ways of asking to see what works best
Here's an example where we compare a badd prompt and a good one: we are asking ChatGPT how to grow our company social media presence. However we are asking it in different ways. Go to chatgpt website and try it yourself:
Bad prompt:
How do I grow my company social media presence?
Good prompt:
Provide a detailed and actionable strategy for growing the social media presence of my company.
My company is a [type of business] that primarily operates in the [industry or niche]. We currently have [X] followers on [list of social media platforms, e.g., Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.], but we aim to significantly increase our online presence. The goal is to receive a comprehensive plan that includes specific tactics, timelines, and measurable KPI (key performance indicators). The strategy should outline both organic and paid growth methods. Additionally, provide recommendations for tools or platforms that could enhance our social media management and analytics.
